The former Coalition Government’s investment in Toowoomba’s revamped BlueCare facility has been opened, with the $18.9 million project delivered with co-investment.
Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton secured the project during the previous Coalition Government.
“This is an incredibly important investment in our local community, with $8.9 million being provided for the project from the Commonwealth and BlueCare providing $10 million.
“These upgrades are providing better facilities that will last longer for over 100 residents and include renovated rooms, community areas and renewed recreational spaces,” Mr Hamilton said.
The upgrades were part of the former Coalition Government’s commitment to regional Australia and were funded through the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).
Mr Hamilton said it was disingenuous for Labor to say they were supporting the Toowoomba region.
“While this is an exciting time for our local community, with upgrades and improved aged care infrastructure, it is a stark reminder that the current Labor government has ignored regional Australia.
“The very program that provided $8.9 million to make this project come to life has been abolished.
“Labor Ministers will come here to Toowoomba to cut the ribbon, but they fail to tell you that they have cut the BBRF, cut the Community Development Program, cut regional health funding, cut the Mobile Black Spot Program, cut regional road funding and put that money back into the big cities,” Mr Hamilton said.
