LNP COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING MENS SHED GROWTH
A Dutton-led Liberal National Government will invest $100,000 to upgrade facilities at the Toowoomba West Men’s Shed as part of the LNP’s plan to get Australia back on track and build sustainable communities.
Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton, said the LNP had a clear plan to support and strengthen the role of community and volunteer groups, acknowledging the critical role they play in society.
“Men’s sheds provide a much-needed sense of community and reinvest into the region – building seating, tables, toys and other bits and pieces for other community groups,” Mr Hamilton said.
“Many people use the Men’s shed for the recreational benefits but return week-in and week-out for the huge social benefits.
“These places provide an opportunity for people to break down barriers, engage in meaningful work, and in many instances pass on life skills from one generation to another.
“Ensuring the delivery of upgrades to local community facilities is an important part of my local plan and vision for our region’s future.”

The President and the majority of shed members believe Garth Hamilton’s (MP) support for upgrading their Mens Shed would be a boost to the community by making it more accessible for men of all ages.
The members also feel the funding would make a huge difference to their day-to-day activities and would help them increase their ability to support community members and other not for profit groups.
The shed’s members make a range of items from toys and household items to nesting boxes and furniture repairs. For them it is a great way to stay connected, get out of the house and enjoy some social interaction with other men. All of which are good for their own mental wellbeing.
The members strongly believe this funding would usher in a new chapter of growth productivity and mateship at Toowoomba West Mens Shed and for that they are grateful for Mr Hamilton’s support and advocacy.’
