The Morrison Government has announced 73 recipients across regional and remote Australia that will share in almost $1.9 million through the Regional Arts Fund Recovery grants.
The funding will be delivered under the $10 million targeted measure announced by the Australian Government in 2020 as part of the Relief and Recovery Fund.
Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton has congratulated Empire Theatres on their successful application, to deliver the Sing On Chorus Project.
“I am pleased to announce the Empire Theatre will receive $29,100 through the Government’s Regional Arts Fund Recovery grants, enabling them to assist our community to heal and rebuild through the arts,” Mr Hamilton said.
“Sing On is a creative recovery program that will allow the Toowoomba Chorus to regain and maintain the momentum that 2020 has disrupted with cancelled programming.
“Performers will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform classical repertoire and learn from a range of vocal coaches. I am pleased the Morrison Government is supporting this project and I look forward to it coming to fruition,” Mr Hamilton said.
Minister Fletcher said it was great to see the Government’s Regional Arts Fund continuing to support recovery for artists and communities following the impacts of COVID-19 restrictions and last summer’s bushfires.
“This grant round was extremely competitive with strong demand across Australia. I am pleased to see a diverse range of Arts projects receiving much needed funding that will support their local communities.
“We know our regional and remote communities have been hit hard this past year, and these new projects will support their economic, social and cultural recovery,” Minister Fletcher said.
Funded projects will provide opportunities for artists and arts workers to cultivate creative community engagement in Indigenous communities, provide opportunities for digital upskilling, and develop new workshops and capacity-building programs.
