An Australian family-owned manufacturing business has celebrated its expansion in the Toowoomba region and beyond.
Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Sussan Ley joined Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton at the grand opening of Kotzur Group’s new storage and handling manufacturing facility
Mr Hamilton said the opening was a significant milestone for the family business and demonstrated the huge benefits of the Toowoomba region’s location in securing investment and new business opportunities.
“I want to offer my sincere congratulations to the KOTZUR group and thank them for investing in our region, they have been a leading Australian-made grain and bulk solid storage manufacturer for decades.
“This investment, coupled with other investments by businesses in our region such as InterlinkSQ underscores the criticality of our position which offers access to key national freight networks.
“This is why we need to see Inland Rail reach Toowoomba, the economic and social benefits are right here,” Mr Hamilton said.
Ben Kotzur said Toowoomba is the ideal location to expand the business and increase manufacturing capacity for customers located in northern Australia.
“The new facility will allow us to continue growth and expansion of our handling equipment capacity and range, and now we will be able to make transportable silos here in Queensland, making them much more affordable for our customers.
“We are eager to start using some of the new equipment that has been installed,” he said.
Mr Hamilton said the private sector was ‘leading the way’ in the region, while the Albanese Labor government had cut critical road infrastructure and left a question mark over the future of Inland Rail.
The building, which was constructed in thirty-six and a half weeks, comprises modern open plan office spaces and 4,300m2 factory space, including a section of shed with a roof height of 24m, set on approximately five hectares.
