The Albanese Labor Government has missed an opportunity to outline a plan to advance Passenger Rail to Toowoomba or get on with delivering Inland Rail.
Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton said the Labor Government had the wrong priorities when it came to restoring Australians standard of living and building for the future.
“Labor’s recent budget is inflationary; it increases spending on the wrong priorities instead of delivering productivity driving and nation building infrastructure,” said Mr Hamilton.
“Federal and State Labor refuse to release the business case on passenger rail, but the Albanese Government has prioritised spending $2 million for Wi-Fi on trains in Sydney,” Mr Hamilton said.
As the Parliamentary record shows, the government has repeatedly refused to answer questions or release the findings of the business case for passenger rail, which was funded by the former Coalition government.
“In government the LNP got the ball rolling on passenger rail, on moving forward with a vision to link Toowoomba to Brisbane.
“The budget lays out the government’s priorities and they are wrong, they are out of touch, and it fails to advance outcomes from the $15 million investment on passenger rail,” Mr Hamilton said.
“This budget was a plan for an election, not for Australia and they have left our region out,” Mr Hamilton said.
