Later this week I will travel to the United States of America, as part of a delegation with business leaders and parliamentary colleagues.
The delegation forms part of a study tour, being led by the Insurance Council of Australia and the American Australia Chamber of Commerce.
During the visit, I will meet with senior political leaders including members of congress, business leaders including the US Chamber of Commerce, visit the Whitehouse, receive a briefing from FEMA and attend the Australia-California Flood and Fire Summit.
Australia and California share many similar geographic and environmental traits, including flood and fire risk. It is important Australia learns from international experience and I look forward to participating in this important initiative to better inform our public policy outcomes.
My office remains open during the course and will continue to assist the people of Groom.
