STATEMENT
I want to thank Mr John Dornbusch for his long period of dedicated service to the University of Southern Queensland.
John is not only a champion of the University, he is a champion of our region, the regions and the offering of regional education. I am proud to now call John a friend, and we will miss his leadership.
Having served on the Council of the University of Southern Queensland for 25 years, John has overseen important renewal of the University, impressive but sustainable growth and the highs and lows of two and half decades of global change.
John has the full appreciation of our community and we wish him the best.
I will take this time to also place on the record my sincere congratulations to the Hon Dr John McVeigh who will commence as the fifth Chancellor of UniSQ on 1 December 2024.
Dr McVeigh is a respected academic and former representative of our community at three levels of government. John has worked and I am confident will continue to work to advance regional development, agriculture, and education.
I look forward to working with John in relation to the many challenges and opportunities that are ahead, including the ongoing partnership in relation to iLaunch, which was supported by the former Coalition Government with $50 million in co-investment.
ENDS.
