LABORS TAX ON FRESH FOOD WILL HIT COST OF LIVING

The Coalition is urging farmers and families to help stop Labor’s fresh food tax, by registering interest to have their say online.

The Department of Agriculture is seeking feedback on Labor’s proposed new tax, the Biosecurity Protection Levy.

Australian farmers are already subject to local, state and federal regulation. Workforce shortages and the lingering impacts of COVID continue to impact and now Labor is going to hit farmers again with an additional cost.

This will drive up the cost of high quality, fresh Australian produce that will inevitably be passed onto consumers which means even higher grocery bills.

The Liberals and Nationals are determined to stop this new tax on our farmers and our food.

Tell Labor, NO NEW TAX:

The Coalition has committed to scrap this tax. Under our plan, importers of foreign products will pay for the biosecurity risk they pose – not Australian farmers.
