Leaked messages from the ‘Toowoomba for Yes’ campaign group have confirmed the role of Climate 200 Teal, Suzie Holt, in the Voice referendum despite her claims otherwise.
Federal Member for Groom Garth Hamilton, has slammed the Climate 200-backed Teal candidate over what he describes as a “deliberate attempt to mislead voters,” after members of the Yes campaign have come forward confirming her active involvement in the Voice to Parliament referendum – including volunteering on polling booths.
The revelations directly contradict her public claim that she “did not campaign” on the Voice, and her ongoing refusal to say how she voted.
“This is not about the Voice. This is about integrity, and knowing candidates are being honest about their views and policy positions,” Mr Hamilton said.
“She says she didn’t campaign. But now Yes campaigners themselves have come forward with proof she was volunteering on booths, handing out materials, and actively pushing for a Yes vote. The evidence is overwhelming – and yet she’s still trying to deny it.”
“People deserve to know the truth, you can’t splash “integrity and honesty” on your website, and then fail to live up to it. What we are seeing is the Teal say one thing to southern backers and something else entirely to the people of Groom.”
Mr Hamilton said the candidate’s actions reveal a deeper issue with trust and transparency.
“She’s treating voters like they don’t deserve honest answers to legitimate questions. Voters have watched the interview, they remember what they saw and read for themselves. That’s not just disrespectful, it’s dishonest.”
“I’ve never treated the people of Groom like they’re easily fooled – but that’s clearly what she’s banking on,” he said.
“I’m proud to represent the people of Groom and I will front up, say what I believe, and stand by it,” Mr Hamilton said.
