COALITION LAUNCHES TOOL TO TRACK FUEL SHORTAGES

Shadow Assistant Minister for Energy Security and Affordability, Garth Hamilton is calling on residents to report fuel shortages at www.nofuelhere.com.au.

Communities across regional Australia are feeling the sting of the nation’s fuel crisis.

“I have been hearing from locals across the Toowoomba Region about their experiences. From not being able to afford diesel that is now $3 per lite and beyond, the farmer who burned through some of their last supplies rushing a worker to emergency and just today, a local small business in the agricultural sector who is seeing orders cancelled and is unable to absorb the huge price shock,” Mr Hamilton said.

“The government has utterly failed to outline a response plan to this fuel crisis and the response changes daily.

“Look how rapidly the part-time Energy Minister has gone from a position of ‘everything is fine’ to releasing emergency stocks and cautioning about fuel rationing, meanwhile they have done nothing for regional Australia where your car, truck and tractor matters,” Mr Hamilton said.

“I’m asking every local resident who has experienced a fuel shortage — or knows someone who has — to report it at www.nofuelhere.com.au . Every report strengthens our case to the Albanese Government that regional Australia needs its fair share of fuel security.”

Australia, which imports around 90 per cent of its refined fuel, has been particularly exposed by the war in Iran. Australia is the only International Energy Agency member country that does not hold the mandatory 90-day fuel reserve.

“The Albanese Government is blaming Australians for fuel shortages, saying it is all panic buying. Reality check, you can’t panic buy from a servo that has no fuel to sell,” Mr Hamilton said.

Residents are encouraged to report fuel shortages at: www.nofuelhere.com.au
