INLAND RAIL FIGHT GOES ON

The Coalition continues the fight for Inland Rail, launching a ‘Rescue our Rail’ petition against Labor’s decision to scrap the once-in-a-generation project.

Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton said the Albanese government’s decision to cancel Inland Rail was hurting the Toowoomba region and demonstrated their lack of vision outside of the big cities.

“Inland Rail was long promised, it was set to connect our regions, transform how we move freight and powering up the industries, especially agriculture, that power our economy.

“This is a disgraceful decision that has been built up over many years of lies and deception, and the government should hang its head in shame,” Mr Hamilton said.

‘I am committed to fighting for Inland Rail to be restored, I call on the community to join me in that fight Rescue Our Rail at www.rescueourrail.com.

The decision comes after Labor decided to spend another $3.8 billion on Victorian Labor’s unfunded $200 billion Melbourne Suburban Rail Loop.

“Once again, the Prime Minister has picked politics over people, and the decision to devastate communities from Parkes to Toowoomba is based on Labor’s choice to fund political projects over productivity projects,” Mr Hamilton said.

“Frankly this is a terrible decision, and the government has clearly given no consideration to the millions in private investment, the impact on families, small businesses, jobs and state and local government,” Mr Hamilton said.
